In the garden of the artist's house he falls into conversation with Lord Wotton, who convinces him that only beauty is worth pursuing. Gray wishes that his portrait, and not himself, might age and show the effects of time. His wish comes true, and wild, hedonistic pursuits horribly disfigure the portrait. This Faustian story caused much controversy when it was first published, as it discusses decadent art and culture, and homosexuality. It is now considered one of the great pieces of modern Western literature.

EBOOK

eng

Wilde, oscar

<format>EBOOK</format>

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781620115060/MC.GIF&client=calgp&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

The Picture of Dorian Gray

EBOOK

eng

Wilde, Oscar

<format>EBOOK</format>

<image_url/>

The Picture of Dorian Gray

BK

eng

Wilde, Oscar

<format>BK</format>
An Annotated, Uncensored Edition

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9780674057920/MC.GIF&client=calgp&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

This Wretched Beauty

BK

eng

Grenier, Elle

<format>BK</format>
A Dorian Gray Remix

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781250329783/MC.GIF&client=calgp&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

The Picture of Dorian Gray

Dorian Gray, a handsome and narcissistic young man, lives thoughtlessly for his own pleasure--an attitude encouraged by the company he keeps. One day, after having his portrait painted, Dorian makes a frivolous Faustian wish: that he should always remain as young and beautiful as he is in that painting, while the portrait grows old in his stead. The wish comes true, and Dorian soon finds that none of his wicked actions have visible consequences. Realizing that he will appear fresh and unspoiled no matter what kind of life he lives, Dorian becomes increasingly corrupt, unchecked by public opinion. Only the portrait grows degenerate and ugly, a powerful symbol of Dorian's internal ruin. Wilde's dreamlike exploration of life without limits scandalized its late-Victorian audience and has haunted readers' imaginations for more than a hundred years.

AB

eng

Wilde, Oscar

<format>AB</format>

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781433241895/MC.GIF&client=calgp&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

The Picture of Dorian Gray

A full-cast audio dramatization of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray - one of the great classics of contemporary Western literature. Dorian Gray, an effete young gentleman, is the subject of a striking portrait by the artist Basil Hallward. Gray's narcissism is awakened, and he embraces a lifestyle of hedonism and casual cruelties. Increasingly consumed by his own vanity, he is forced to confront his true inner-self, in a manner that is as shocking as it is terrifying.

AB

eng

Edwards, Paul

<format>AB</format>

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781580815642/MC.GIF&client=calgp&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

Dorian

BK

eng

Self, Will

<format>BK</format>
An Imitation

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9780802140470/MC.GIF&client=calgp&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>
