She dreams of a fresh start at college, but when family tragedy strikes, Daunis puts her future on hold to look after her fragile mother. The only bright spot is meeting Jamie, the charming new recruit on her brother Levi's hockey team. Yet even as Daunis falls for Jamie, she senses the dashing hockey star is hiding something. Everything comes to light when Daunis witnesses a shocking murder, thrusting her into an FBI investigation of a lethal new drug. Reluctantly, Daunis agrees to go undercover, drawing on her knowledge of chemistry and Ojibwe traditional medicine to track down the source. But the search for truth is more complicated than Daunis imagined, exposing secrets and old scars. At the same time, she grows concerned with an investigation that seems more focused on punishing the offenders than protecting the victims. Now, as the deceptions--and deaths--keep growing, Daunis must learn what it means to be a strong Anishinaabe kwe (Ojibwe woman) and how far she'll go for her community, even if it tears apart the only world she's ever known"--Provided by publisher.

BK

eng

Boulley, Angeline

<format>BK</format>

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781250766564/MC.GIF&client=hennp&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

Blue Bearies

BK

eng

Child, Brenda J., 1959-

<format>BK</format>

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781681343389/MC.GIF&client=hennp&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

Boarding Schools and the Indigenous Story

BK

eng

Fairbanks, Ashley

<format>BK</format>

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9780593811405/MC.GIF&client=hennp&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

Where Wolves Don't Die

"Ezra Cloud hates living in Northeast Minneapolis. "Reuben was an inquisitive raven. Of course, all ravens are inquisitive, but Reuben was a notch above even the most curious bird." So begins a story by beloved author Richard Wagamese, about a raven that has the whole forest talking. Some think he is nosy, but really, he is in a state of utter amazement at the world. He suggests new designs for the beavers' dams, imitates the blue herons' one-legged stance as they spear minnows, and squawks in glee at the sight of the bears emerging from hibernation. When he sees an eagle soaring high in the sky, he tries to soar as high as her, in order to earn the other animals' respect--only to learn that respect is not something one earns, but something one carries. This book is yet another example from Richard Wagamese about the power of storytelling. Beautifully illustrated by original work from Anishinaabe artist Bridget George, The Inquisitive Raven is sure to be cherished by readers of all ages."-- Provided by publisher.

BK

eng

Wagamese, Richard

<format>BK</format>

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781771624497/MC.GIF&client=hennp&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

Legendary Frybread Drive-in

Set at a classic drive-in restaurant that seems to exist in every Native community, this anthology unites the stories of teens from all kinds of backgrounds through the shared theme of Native joy, with stories and poems reflecting hope, healing, humor, love, friendship, romance, and joy. A woman gives birth to five daughters and raises them on an island, teaching them the relationships between animals and plants and people, until they became women and had children of their own, passing down these teachings. When unnamed others came to the island, they brought sorrow, replacing totems with crosses and taking the grandchildren away to schools, separating them from their sacred teachings and connections. This book is a reminder that near or far, the land is part of who we are. Tumuxw, Mother Earth, will stay the same, strong and unbroken, and no matter how hard others may try to take her children away, she will tend to them again. She will help them remember who they are, despite what the others may have convinced them to be.

BK

eng

Defriend, Courtney, 1990-

<format>BK</format>

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781778540981/MC.GIF&client=hennp&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>
