In spite of everything that happened to me, by the grace of the Creator, I have lived to be an Elder.' The crimes carried out at St. Paul’s Indian Residential School in North Vancouver scarred untold numbers of Indigenous children and families across generations. Sam George was one of these children. This candid account follows Sam from his idyllic childhood growing up on the Eslhá7an (Mission) reserve to St. Paul’s, where he weathered physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. He spent much of his life navigating the effects of this trauma – prison, addiction, and challenging relationships – until he found the strength to face his past. Now an Elder and educator with the Indian Residential School Survivors Society, this is Sam’s harrowing story, in his own words. An ember of Sam’s spirit always burned within him, and even in the darkest of places he retained his humour and dignity. The Fire Still Burns is an unflinching look at the horrors of a childhood in the Indian Residential School system and the long-term effects on survivors. It illustrates the healing power of one’s culture and the resilience that allows an individual to rebuild a life and a future."--Provided by publisher.

BK

eng

George, Sam

<format>BK</format>
Life in and After Residential School

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9780774880855/MC.GIF&client=ottap&type=xw12&oclc=C</image_url>

The Lost Wave: An African Surf Story

The Lost Wave chronicles an expedition led by surf writer and filmmaker Sam George, along with pro surfers Holly Beck and Joe Curren, as they travel to the remote West African island nation of Sao Tome, which George had visited six years earlier.

VIDEO_ONLINE

eng

<format>VIDEO_ONLINE</format>

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=/MC.GIF&client=ottap&type=xw12&oclc=C&upc=</image_url>

Cat & Keet: Season One

In this children's cartoon series, a cat named Cat and a parakeet named Keet go on funny adventures, meeting colorful characters along the way.

VIDEO_ONLINE

eng

<format>VIDEO_ONLINE</format>
Cat & Keet

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=/MC.GIF&client=ottap&type=xw12&oclc=C&upc=</image_url>

Cat & Keet: Season Two

In this children's cartoon series, a cat named Cat and a parakeet named Keet go on funny adventures, meeting colorful characters along the way.

VIDEO_ONLINE

eng

<format>VIDEO_ONLINE</format>
Season Two. Despite diversity in nationality and patterns of immigration and settlement and other factors that differentiate African Canadians from each other, leadership has long been an important issue as African Canadians confront the uniform problem of anti-blackness in Canada. The turn of the 21st century has brought about a 'changing of the guard' in Black leadership in this country. Confronted by the passing of eminent leaders such as Rose-Marie Brown, Charles Roach, Dudley Laws, Rocky Jones, and by the current virtual absence of Black electoral representations, there is a growing sense that Black leadership in Canada is in crisis or facing a serious deficit. This collection aims to counter the 'crisis' and 'deficit' narratives by positioning African-Canadian leadership as a vital but rarely appreciated element of Canada's civic culture. Overall, this book critically engages the foregoing issues and questions through a multidisciplinary exploration the challenges, prospects, and ongoing achievements of Black leadership in Canada as it responds to the shifting needs of African Canadians and other Canadians."--Provided by publisher.

BK

eng

<format>BK</format>
Continuity, Transition, and Transformation

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781487523664/MC.GIF&client=ottap&type=xw12&oclc=(Sirsi)</image_url>

Breaking Bad

In season four, Walt and Skyler try to use gambling to explain how Walt has made all of his money; Skyler tries to launder money through a car wash; Hank's discovery of Gus Fring's fingerprint in Gale Boetticher's apartment is enough for DEA and Albuquerque PD to bring Gus in for an interview; and much more.

DVD

eng

<format>DVD</format>
The Complete Fourth Season

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=/MC.GIF&client=ottap&type=xw12&oclc=C&upc=043396389045</image_url>

Marinéns marscher

MUSIC_ONLINE

zxx

<format>MUSIC_ONLINE</format>
the marches of the Royal Swedish Navy

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=/MC.GIF&client=ottap&type=xw12&oclc=1053623728&upc=</image_url>
