Caroline Amelia Elizabeth, Princess of Brunswick, was born in the northern German town of Braunschweig. Her mother and father, the duke and duchess, instantly knew one thing: there was something irrefutably untameable about their daughter. She grew up a wild child, sequestered from others to protect her family's reputation--an 18th-century Rapunzel. She was freed from this gilded cage by an unexpected marriage proposal from George Augustus Frederick, Prince of Wales and the eldest son of George III and Queen Charlotte. Caroline was entirely unprepared for the backstabbing mean girls of the royal court. Always staying true to herself, she stepped into her role of queen-to-be without compromising her character, showing off her affinity for fashion, her many eccentric hobbies, and ultimately, her infallible spirit, despite being ostracized as an outsider by her in-laws. And so Caroline became the unlikely figurehead of the anti-monarchists, aided by the just-emerging tabloid press. Yet, despite her status as a revolutionary heroine, Caroline's name faded away following her death. Until now. For fans of Normal Women, Ann Foster brings us the riveting story of Caroline of Brunswick, Britain's uncrowned queen, through an empowering examination of womanhood and autonomy that feels just as relevant today.

BK

eng

Foster, Ann

<format>BK</format>
The Scandalous Saga of Caroline of Brunswick, Britain's Queen Without A Crown

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781335000637/MC.GIF&client=ontlibconbib&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

Bread Etc.

A NATIONAL BESTSELLER
"A must-read for baking at home, or anywhere!" She interviewed Hermann G©œring twice, climbed to Hitler's redoubt at Eagle's Nest, was a friend of FDR, and the postwar mayor of Berchtesgaden. Sometimes even her four sons questioned the validity of their mother's stories. The first time she met her daughter-in-law (author Terese Svoboda), Pat showed her a photo of herself and a pile of ashes and said the US command had asked her to identify them as Hitler's. Was she a fabulist, a trailblazer, or was she simply doing her job? Threaded with dark humor and personal reflection, this memoir explores the stories we inherit and the ones we invent, the official histories we parrot, and the quiet manipulations we accept. From Cold War propaganda and McCarthy-era paranoia to newsroom sexism and the strange theater of postwar art-world politics, Hitler and My Mother-in-Law reveals a life extraordinary--and perhaps crafted. With sharp insight, Svoboda unpacks the contradictions embedded in such a narrative, weaving in reflections on her own experiences in journalism, family, and the uneasy inheritance of truth-through-marriage. With a voice that is at once skeptical and affectionate, the author navigates the slippery terrain of memory--her own and others'--while wrestling with the impossible task of pinning down truth. In an age of misinformation, spin, and revisionism, this book is an excavation of narrative and memoir itself, and a warning about the seductions of a good story.

BK

eng

Svoboda, Terese

<format>BK</format>

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781682196519/MC.GIF&client=ontlibconbib&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

La mia Boutique

Benvenuti nel mondo de La Mia Boutique, la rivista che da decenni accompagna chi non si accontenta della moda pronta, ma desidera crearla. From the New York Times best-selling author of Stiff and Fuzz, a rollicking exploration of the quest to re-create the impossible complexities of human anatomy.

The body is the most complex machine in the world, and the only one for which you cannot get a replacement part from the manufacturer. For centuries, medicine has reached for what's available—sculpting noses from brass, borrowing skin from frogs and hearts from pigs, crafting eye parts from jet canopies and breasts from petroleum by-products. Today we're attempting to grow body parts from scratch using stem cells and 3D printers. How are we doing? Are we there yet?

In Replaceable You, Mary Roach explores the remarkable advances and difficult questions prompted by the human body's failings. When and how does a person decide they'd be better off with a prosthetic than their existing limb? Can a donated heart be made to beat forever? Can an intestine provide a workable substitute for a vagina?

Roach dives in with her characteristic verve and infectious wit. Her travels take her to the OR at a legendary burn unit in Boston, a "superclean" xeno-pigsty in China, and a stem cell "hair nursery" in the San Diego tech hub. She talks with researchers and surgeons, amputees and ostomates, printers of kidneys and designers of wearable organs. She spends time in a working iron lung from the 1950s, stays up all night with recovery techs as they disassemble and reassemble a tissue donor, and travels across Mongolia with the cataract surgeons of Orbis International.

This essential guide starts with this simple truth: readers judge your creations against people they know. Exceeding this standard produces novels that audiences can't help but recommend. The first step is to understand psychology, specifically how people relate to one another and how it should guide your writing. You'll uncover the force behind deep empathy and learn how to keep readers invested to reach this ultimate goal.

This exploration initially provides a clear, practical recipe for constructing your being's identity. The Bardsy Character Equation lays out three core ingredients, while the Comprehensive Developer expands upon this core with 73 potential add-ons (see the interactive version at bardsy.com/character). Crucially, it shows how to blend these elements into a fully integrated persona that captures and holds your reader's attention as it behaves organically.

Achieving deep empathy also depends on coherence, the synergy between your character and the story's world, conflict, theme, and plot. So, this guide shows how to entice readers into knowing your creations through meaningful details and contextualized choices. Resonant arcs and compelling plots flow from connecting these situations, provoking intimacy and empathy as your words bring the character to life in the reader's mind.

Publishable Characters includes tools and tests, developed through hundreds of writing group sessions, to help you track your progress and achieve real results. You'll be thrilled by the irresistible characters this approach creates, and you'll want to keep this guide at hand for quick reference whenever you write.

EBOOK

eng

Simon, Adam F.

<format>EBOOK</format>
A Complete Guide With Tests & Comprehensive Developer

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9798993398716/MC.GIF&client=ontlibconbib&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

50 & Fabulous

Rediscover Vitality and Strength to Thrive in Your Prime Years

The creative use of words is a craft, and as writers mature in their skills, those who learn the best use of words find their works becoming ever more popular among readers or listeners who appreciate the mental images these words create. Metaphors give color to your words. You can recognize the better authors by their use of metaphors. By examining what they create, you too can create words that are more descriptive and interesting. To create this second edition of Metaphors of Like, we studied fourteen successful authors including John Steinbeck, Zane Grey, Nora Roberts, Catherine Coulter, Tom Clancy, Robert Louis Stevenson, J.D. Robb, C.S. Forrester and Pearl S. Buck, and twenty-six books that they wrote including The Winter of our Discontent, Riders of the Purple Sage, Heaven and Earth and Patriot Games. Each of these books gave the authors international fame and huge monetary rewards. You can do the same. Everyone wins when words come alive in the minds of the audience or individual reader or listener. This book provides over 1,200 metaphors to help make your own writing more interesting and memorable. Go for it! Be descriptive and watch your success as an author grow. In many areas of America, there is no readily available source of this information. For we are in the midst of the Great Falling Away which was prophesied. This is not a book about doctrine. It is an attempt to explain what you need to know as you begin your relationship with Lord Yeshua, our Messiah. In Greek, that would be Jesus Christ. In English, Joshua, the Anointed One. My hope is to lead you to questions you can ask the Lord to keep yourself on the strait and narrow path. You will discover that Yeshua is a person with infinite resources and power who wants to be your friend. In a word, He is God. You are made in His image, and He created you with a unique set of gifts and abilities. It is astonishing that He would make a disposable universe to give people the free opportunity to choose to know Him. Once all the people who are willing to do that are collected, He will dispose of this universe and make the real deal.A major harvesting event is going to happen in the near future. Every person on Earth who hates him will be removed. Those who love Him will join Him forever. It's a marvelous plan. All you have to do is believe that Jesus is who He says He is, repent of all your sin, and give your life to Him.The plan is to show you how to do that, in a manner you can understand, so you are ready to go. He is ready to move within you and help. It's an astonishing delight to meet Him and work with Him. For He truly loves you. For me, my early life culminated with the great rebellion of the sixties. Ending up as a fine artist and heavy user of pot and acid, I needed help. I met Jesus in 1974, and my life began, for real. The Lord gave me an amazing Godly woman for my wife in 1976. I became a graphic designer, font designer, and desktop publisher. In 1991, I began teaching printing and digital publishing. That resulted in writing dozens of books and booklets about the practical processes, using InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

In 2009, I began the transformation into an author of fiction. By the end of 2022, I had 17 novels in five series, as I have developed my craft. This book is #20, and is the third book of the sixth series.

I'm using Christian contemporary speculative fiction with some Biblical romance to share stories about the reality of how Jesus touches our day-to-day lives, while being strongly focused upon Biblical truth. I put the stereotypical Bible quoters in the same category as robo-callers. I attempt to reveal Jesus within a realistic world sharing my experiences. The goal is to reveal Jesus as a loving Creator building people into what they are designed to be. I currently assume time is running short, and the final harvest is here.

EBOOK

eng

Bergsland, David

<format>EBOOK</format>

<image_url>https://secure.syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9798232196370/MC.GIF&client=ontlibconbib&type=xw12&oclc=</image_url>

The Anti-Perfectionist's Guide to Mixing Music

Mixing music isn't about chasing flawless sound - it's about capturing energy, emotion, and presence. Joseph and Mary's roles as earthly parents showcase obedience and faith amidst challenges, including exile to Egypt to escape Herod's wrath. The text illustrates Yeshua's growth in Nazareth, where he learned the craft of building, symbolizing his future role as a spiritual architect.
